Climate, People and the Environment Program

Bryson's work has significantly advanced the understanding of the interrelations among climate, natural resources, population, and culture. The endowment notes the urgency of global problems that center on the interrelation of climate, people, and the environment and the need for high quality science and scientists trained in these interrelated areas.

The CPEP endowment notes the urgency of global problems that center on the interrelation of climate, people, and the environment and the need for high quality science and scientists trained in these interrelated areas. Critical to this training is the foundation of knowledge and skills provided by faculty, staff, and students at the Center for Climatic Research (CCR). Likewise, faculty, fellows, and students affiliated with CPEP bring their training in the natural and human sciences to the forefront of interdisciplinary climate research at CCR and AOS.

Major activities supported by CPEP supports include: (1) the Reid A. Bryson Distinguished Professorship of Climate, People, and Environment; (2) an Interdisciplinary Fellows Program for supporting postdoctoral investigators, visiting scholars, or graduate students coming from other disciplines that are interested in climate impacts; (3) CPEP research seminar series; and (4) seed grants for new and innovative directions in climate-related research.
