How to become a member
FOR FACULTY
Membership is open to all faculty and academic staff who teach a course with content that significantly addresses themes of culture, history, and environment; conduct research in the thematic areas of the Center, or can otherwise demonstrate an intellectual/pedagogical commitment to the aims of the Center.
What are the benefits of becoming a CHE Faculty Member?
- Taking part in an exciting intellectual and social community dedicated to exploring the changing relationships of people and environment over time;
- Eligibility to serve on the Executive Committee;
- Opportunities to have a voice in the future events, programs, and governance of CHE and to play an active role in the design, development, and teaching of an Interdisciplinary CHE Graduate Certificate being planned.
How to apply?
Applicants for membership shall be nominated to the Executive Committee by themselves or someone else. Please submit an expression of interest that includes a jpg photo and a 100-word biographical statement that includes your research interests, key departments and programs you regard as core to your intellectual community on campus, and link to personal webpage (if you have one). Please also include a current CV.Applications for membership should be sent to Gregg Mitman (gmitman@med.wisc.edu). Applications will be taken up and approved by the CHE Executive Committee and the Members at large.
FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS
Graduate students who have research, teaching, or outreach interests that significantly address the themes of culture, history, and environment are eligible to apply to become CHE Graduate Student Affiliates. What are the benefits of becoming a CHE Graduate Student Affiliate?
- Becoming a part of an exciting intellectual and social community dedicated to exploring the changing relationships of people and environment over time;
- Eligibility to apply for desk space and access to the lounge in Bradley Memorial;
- Graduate student representation on the CHE Executive Committee, the governing body of the Center;
- Access as a formalized graduate student body to funds for programming exciting speakers and/or events organized by, and for, graduate students.

How do you become a CHE Graduate Student Affiliate?
Please fill out the short application form and return to Gregg Mitman (gmitman@med.wisc.edu). Application for Graduate Student Affiliate status are taken up and approved by the CHE Executive Committee.
